vista / XP dual boot with Amilo Xi2528 - probs with SATA  Topic is solved

Postby makdaddy » Thu Oct 25, 2007 6:36 am

I have an xi 2528 that is pre-loaded with vista home premium

I want to dual boot with xp. but the install does not recognise any hard disks.. i assume this is because the xp install does not have the sata raid drivers for the xi2528

I have http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html to create a custom OS boot disk and i have added all the sata drivers from the support disk it copies the drivers over during the text part of the install but xp still doesnt see any hdd.

Any help would be much appreciated

Did you integrate ICH8 SATA or JMicron RAID drivers?

i integrated all sata drivers ( copied and unzipped from the FSC support disk) that were not 64bit

I just found the tutorial below thats specific for xi series notebook

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=111960

i will give this a go tonight and post the outcome

did it work?

If not, try JMICRON drivers as Aaron has already suggested (link can be found here topic,26,-Installation-of-Windows-XP-Home-Pro-PE-FAQs.html#48 )
You may also integrate Intel ICH chipset drivers (Intel Matrix Storage Controller Drivers; a link is also in the thread linked above) to make sure, but it shouldnt be necessary as far as I know.

so which driver did you use? JMICRON, Intel or both?
Or did you use the DriverPack mentioned there?

Hi Borkar

i used the drivers pack as mentioned in method 2

i then used my vista disk to fix the mbr and easybcd to manage the bootloader

drivers for xp

Postby paradox » Mon Apr 07, 2008 11:53 am

Hello.

I have just run my xi2528 on windows XP and it worx times good than on Vista. All drivers are categorized on http://servbg.com/xi2528/

Currently working with them and all working (except some IR remote functions)

I post it here, because i spent a lot of time trying and trying to run XP on this machine. At last it works and i want to share it with you and maybe spend you time.

Hope there'll be better support from manufacturers on other OSes, not only M$.
