Hello,
I have just experienced a problem with my Amilo v2020.
The Fan just stopped working, on inspection the fan/heat-sink was clean, no signs of wear or electrical damage.
I rang the Hot-line, and I was offered a repair solution by sending the whole laptop in for repair. In my wisdom (if you can call it that) I decided to order a new CPU cooling unit thinking that the thing had probably worn out.
I installed the new component and the problem is not resolved, at least I have a spare cooling unit!!
Could this problem be caused by a BIOS problem (e.g. virus)?
Diagnostics tried:
I tried the following things: Hard drive removed, tried to boot from following CD's:- Recovery / Repair / anti-virus / linux, (the laptop still overheated and shut down)
I am sure that the fan kicked in once for a brief moment, during my attempts but I have no solution at the moment.
I need to be sure that the problem cannot be resolved by me before I send it in for repair under guarantee.
Could anyone give me some advice before I decide to send my Laptop in for repair, I have run out of ideas, and I do not know what could be the cause of this problem. I realise that I will be responsible for repair costs if the problem has been caused by me, (e.g. virus/ configuration ect.)
